Okay so I didn't understand or realize that if the original function = f(x), then it's even and if it = -1f(x) it's odd. I just thought that if it didn't match the original equation it was odd. I completely missed the part where we had to check if it was equal to another function.
Parabolas are the easiest even function to depict. it's just an arch, ya know? Odd functions are harder to explain because most of the time it's like "????? What is it even doing ?????" The first Picture below shows different kinds of even graphs and the seconds shows odd graphs.

It's weird because the top left even graph and the top right odd graph look a lot alike but one is even and one is odd. It's interesting how that works.
